![]() Supposedly, these are appearing in the wild as well, implying that gender has already found its way into the game, albeit with no real significance other than cosmetics, and possibly on no other Pokemon but Pikachu at the moment. ![]() Female Pikachus have a heart-shaped tip on their tail, while female Raichus have the point of the electric bolt cut off on their tail. If you've updated your game, you might find that your Pikachus have been assigned a gender. Update: Here's one curious item of note that probably isn't worth its own post, but ties into this all the same. We were all wrong last time about predicting Gen 2’s arrival, but now, a ton of stuff has made its way into the game where it feels like at any moment, a switch could just be flipped and the monsters will be unleashed. 90+ new Pokémon in the wild would effectively not just be an “event,” but something that would make for an entirely new game, and bring GO back to launch-era engagement levels, if only for a while. ![]() The Gen 2 baby experiment was not my favorite release the game has seen to date, but even if the event is “six new Pokémon appear more frequently in the wild!” I would rather just have them all, minus legendaries perhaps, appear together. I could see them releasing these Pokémon in waves, 6-8 at a time maybe, or even crafting some sort of event where say, just the item-based evolution Pokémon are released, and players scramble to upgrade their existing Pokémon with candy and these new in-game items.Īt this point, I’m still hoping for one big release rather than a slow trickle of new Pokémon. I don’t think this is the right call, but they’ve already begun that process, and it’s easy to imagine them continuing that in order to create multiple events rather than just one large release. Niantic may still choose to spread out Gen 2’s release even more, rather than unleashing all the Pokémon at once. Instead, it was just Gen 2 babies appearing in eggs. However, Niantic’s exact plan for Gen 2's rollout is unknown.īack in December when players were promised a “big update” by Niantic, many assumed it would be all of Gen 2 being released at once. Pokémon GO has crammed in so much data about Gen 2 Pokémon behind the scenes that release seems imminent. What remains unclear is when exactly all this comes together.
